Twenty-five paintings by Maltese artists were exhibited at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg on 25 April. The exhibition was organised by the Embassy of Malta in Brussels, in collaboration with Judge Ramona Frendo and Professor Victor Grech. Prof. Victor Grech was born in Malta in 1965 and works in Malta as a consultant pediatrician with a special interest in pediatric cardiology. He finds painting Maltese landscapes and seascapes a particularly relaxing pastime. The medium is oil on canvas with a painting knife, and John Borg Manduca, the famous Maltese impressionist artist, is his inspiration and mentor. These paintings tend to be both Impressionist and Expressionist and Fauvist.
Titled The Colours of Malta, the exhibition was subsequently relocated to the European Court of Auditors, also in Luxembourg, on 19 June. This second exhibition was sponsored by George Hyzler. All artworks were successfully sold, with proceeds donated in aid of Save & Support Trust.
The exhibition featured works by a distinguished group of Maltese artists, including Kevin Sciberras, Faye Borg Grech, Joseph Barbara, Sarah Calleja, Alexia Coppini, Francis Galea, Vania Goshe, Antonio Mifsud, Vanni Pulè, Richard England, Ben Chetcuti, Beppe Antignolo, Mariella Scerri, Chris Camilleri, Jacqueline Agius, Mariam De Giorgio, Catherine Cavallo, Adrian Mizzi, Johanna Barthet, Kenneth Zammit Tabona, Joseph Casapinta, Madeleine Gera, and Victor Grech.
These events were supported by Arts Council Malta and Express Trailers.
